Hiking - Lose Weight Fast with this Fun Exercise!

Do you want to burn a lot of calories and have fun at the same time? Then you definitely need to go hiking!

I love hiking — I recently hiked in Yosemite National Park and it was a blast! Beautiful scenery, clean fresh air….I burned so many calories without even thinking about it because I was in such awe of the mountains, valleys, waterfalls and more.

Hiking is the type of activity that people of almost every age can enjoy. Hiking is basically walking - but it is walking in the wild or in nature. So that means you will rarely hike on a concrete path. You will most likely park your car and take off hiking on a dirt trail or rocky mountain path.

If you want to hike as a family you can even do it when your kids are very young - all you need to do is carry your child in a special "kid" backpack. The extra weight of your child will also add to your calories burned.

Hiking is an active way to spend enjoyable quality time with friends and get your exercise at the same time.

There are so many places to hike and so many different terrains - you can make your hike as difficult or as easy as you decide each time you go. Hiking can burn 400 - 600 calories per hour for a 175 pound person on a moderately difficult hike. Hiking can really build your fitness level and satisfy your craving for adventure depending on where you hike.

Hiking can be a wonderful way to share experiences with friends and see sights that you would not be able to see from a vehicle. Hiking gets you off the beaten path and into nature like no other exercise.

Hiking is considered one of the best ways to exercise your body. Hiking engages the whole body - this means that on a hike you will work almost all of your major muscle groups and you will give your heart (cardio) a great workout too - especially if you hike uphill.

Hiking is a much better form of exercise than walking on a treadmill. One of the main benefits of hiking over the treadmill is that with hiking you are required to work on your balance and that helps you engage more muscle groups. And having good balance is essential as you get older.

Hiking is an ideal activity to add to your current exercise and fitness regimen. Going outside for a hike can give you variety and add spice to your typical workout. It also gives you a great cross training benefit and allows you to work your muscles synergistically in ways that you normally do not work them.

So give hiking a try. You will be able to go outside, clear your head, spend time in nature and return refreshed and invigorated. Hiking not only works out your external physical body - it also gives our mental health a boost too.

For many folks, they find that hiking is so much fun they forget they are getting an excellent workout and time just flies by. Give hiking a chance, get outside and enjoy yourself!
